Of Heroes & Castles

I have two Goodwills that I frequent (one in the town where I work & one in the town where I live) Today wasn't my most successful Goodwill trip after work, but after looking in the toys & ceramic/dishes with no luck, I made it to the wooden/metal section. I'd previously found an Enesco curio shelf, and decided to look at the pile of wooden shelves and found this beauty under the rubble:

After a good scrub, I've decided to use it to show off my Gasaphon Zelda Figures (w/ Yoshi & Donkey Kong thrown in for good measure).

So until about a year ago, I'd never heard of Gashapon, and I don't remember exactly where I first saw them, but I sort of got hooked and bought a bunch of the Phantom Hourglass eggs on Ebay. It would have definitely need awesome to have found those at Goodwill, but alas...

I also, just last week, decided to frequent the book section again, as I finally figured out where they'd put comic books/graphic novels....I really didn't previously think to look in the kid's book section, but I should have figured. I'm not very versed on comics, as I never really had the money as a kid and my brothers were more into sports than comic books. Last week I scored a few graphic novels and this week I scored:

I'm really digging the artwork!

I'm not sure why, but I almost forgot to stop in the Halloween section (which is usually the first one I go to, but I was a bit tight on money this trip). I'm really glad I decided to look there, because I scored this Wicked Witch figure by Dave Grossman:

I love shopping at Goodwill, but I swear they use the stickiest price tags ever and they're usually put in the worst possible spot (such as on the front of a comic book or paper back book where it's impossible to not damage the cover when you remove it). I almost completely lost this sticker on the bottom of the witch when I went to remove the sticker, and it managed to take the ink off for the edition number (oh well not a huge deal but still slightly disappointing).

Today was most definitely a quality Goodwill day over a quantity one!

I've been Goodwill scavenger hunting and toy collecting/selling for over a year now. I've heavily utilized ghostofthedoll.com's forum to help with IDing, and I'm planning on using this to share some of my toy discoveries, cleaning/photographing tutorials, and explore some of my interests.
